Mighty Tanaka & BRIC present: Shaun Leonardo @ The Volta Art Fair

We are very proud to announce our partnership with BRIC Media & Arts to present the work of artist Shaun Leonardo at the Volta Art Fair 2016.  Featured in the special curated section of the fair titled Something I Can Feel by Derrick Adams, this collaboration reflects the core of Leonardo's work, highlighting the notions of masculinity and strength in the stereotyping of men and the underlying reality of the human condition and ultimately their vulnerability.  Through a series of charcoal drawings depicting famous boxers such as Mike Tyson, Jack Johnson and others and mirroring it with the epidemic of police brutality cases and the media's role, Leonardo expresses the double standards and struggles that African American men face in American culture.

Please join us for this blockbuster exhibition at the Volta Art Fair, March 2nd - 6th, on Pier 90.

The Koda Series continues - This month we're featuring the artwork of an emerging artist known simply as KUBIK.  The French born artist has been living in NYC for years and has been steadily refining his craft and techniques.  With an eye for geometry and dimensions, he creates block-like caricatures from all of your favorite pop culture references.  These fun illustrations are highly identifiable and the perfect fit for any fan of Street Art, Pop Art, Vinyl Toys, Cinema, Comic Books and Video Games.  KUBIK has been turning heads for years, working on commercial ventures and private commissions, as his ability to translate characters into his highly unique brand of portraiture is nothing short of stunning.  He will be exhibiting pieces featuring memorable characters from Star Wars, Marvel Comics and beyond!  Koda will have both drink specials and a full menu for the event, so bring your friends and help celebrate this special occasion!
